   Nothing less than a three-act heavy metal opera with role-playing vocals sung by the band members, the album draws on a whole range of metal influences -- from Thin Lizzy and Iron Maiden to Mercyful Fate and Opeth -- and ties them together with some Celtic folk touches to create a sound that, while it does feel a little '80s nostalgic, is actually pretty original.8/

   This album was recorded on an 8 track analog machine, in a rehearsal space in San Franciscom, between July '99 and February ' Recorded and engineered by Rich Morin. Mixed and mastered by Justin Weis at Trakworx, South San Francisco.

   The eclectic and versatile guitarist John Cobbett (Gwar, Ludicra, Slough Feg, Amber Asylum, Jarboe) from San Francisco gave birth in to Hammers of Misfortune, previously known as Unholy Cadaver. Later in , the band released their first full length album “The Bastard” (an epic tale told in three acts with three distinct characters/voices) on Tumult Records.
